Read ONE of the following novels:

• A Single Shard by: Linda Sue Park
• Catherine, Called Birdy by: Karen Cushman
• Among the Hidden by: Margaret Peterson Haddix
• The Last Book in the Universe by: Rodman Philbrick

1. Read one of the above novels and keep a Reading Response Journal as you read. If you are reading A Single Shard or Catherine, Called Birdy write at least 3-4 sentences for each chapter. If you are reading Among the Hidden or The Last Book in the Universe write 3-4 sentences for every two chapters. Your responses can address the following: questions, thoughts or feelings you have while reading; descriptions of the main characters; important quotes and why they are important; new vocabulary words and their definitions; predictions you have about the story; a summary about the chapter.

2. Your work may be computer generated or handwritten. You must have a cover page with your name clearly marked on the front. Your work must be neat and legible.

3. Your journal is due on August 18^th, 2008^.
