Mayor's First Day Festival
Event date: Sunday, August 03, 2008, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM
Dear LaWanna,
Mayor Karl Dean will welcome thousands of students, parents, teachers and volunteers to the Sommet Center on Sunday, Aug. 3, from 2 to 5 p.m., for the ninth annual Mayor's First Day Festival.
This celebration is Nashville's unique opportunity to start the new school year off right. The Mayor’s First Day Festival has grown each year, with more than 22,000 participating last August.
The heart of the Festival happens on the concourse of the Sommet Center, through organizations like yours hosting a booth with an educational theme or giveaway. Booths are 10' x 10' and are provided free with a six-foot table and two chairs.
Again, all booths must have an educational theme, and each participating organization is responsible for providing needed signage, easels or displays (no stickers or balloons, please).
In the coming days, the First Day booth application will be online at
www.nashville.gov/mocy/firstday/2008
under the "Vendor Information" link. We'll notify you when that link is active so you can complete the application.
Please note:
This year's Festival will take place one week earlier than in past years, as the Sommet Center is reserved for a convention on our traditional date.
Booth setup begins at 9 a.m. Organizations that have not checked in by noon will forfeit their booths.
If you have any questions, please contact Allyson Young at 615-578-1957. Look for more information soon!
