The Metropolitan Nashville Board of Education announces a vacancy in the following position:

SPECIAL EDUCATION VISUALLY IMPAIRED TEACHER

QUALIFICATIONS: Applicant must possess a degree in Education or related field with a Tennessee Teaching license in Special Education – Vision.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Conducts functional vision assessments, adapts a variety of instructional materials into appropriate media using specialized technology such as Braillewriter, computer software and other related equipment. Applicant must develop and implement compliant EIP’s, provide technical assistance to support teachers and staff working with students who may also have additional disabilities in addition to a visual impairment, and provide instruction in the Expanded Core Curriculum and low vision devices.

SALARY: Ten months. Exact placement on the salary schedule depends upon educational qualifications and experience. Career ladder eligible.
